Light quality
The 7 color modes include red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, and warm white. Each is distinct and not washed out. The warm white mode is the one most people use long-term. It is slightly cooler than a ceramic lamp but still comfortable for evening use.
Dimmer test: we noticed slight flicker at the very lowest brightness on the color modes, but not on the warm white mode. If you plan to use it for sleep ambiance, stick to warm white. For shelf accent or kids' rooms where you use it briefly, the color flicker is barely noticeable.
Base stability
The plastic base is narrower than we would like at about 2.5 inches. It tips on our 15-degree tilt test. For a nightstand where it will not be disturbed, that is fine. For a shelf with active traffic (cat, kids), use the wider-based MIUCOLOR or Mainstays instead.
Who should buy it
Buy the Teddy Tastic if your budget is under $15 or if you want a night light for a child's room with color options. It is also a good first purchase if you are not sure whether you will use a mushroom lamp long-term. At $14, the risk is low.
Verdict
4.2 / 5
Best budget mushroom lamp. 7 colors, touch control, USB power. Slight flicker at lowest color-mode brightness and narrow base are the only real downsides at this price.
